Getting The Best Acne Treatment

Acne is a condition that is manifested in the skin. His condition is not actually deadly or fatal but can lead to disfigurement of the face due to scars and blemishes if the case is extreme. There are several types of acne and the causes may be the same or different for each type. The most common type of acne is the one called acne vulgaris. This type of skin condition is usually found in adolescents on the verge of puberty although there are cases of
individuals who carry it well into adulthood.

Factors That Contribute To Acne Genetic structure is one thing that can dictate whether the individual is prone to acne or not. Those with high occurrence of family members with acne are more likely susceptible to the skin condition than others. The hormonal swings of puberty and menstruation are also factors that contribute to acne. Acne treatment for the different kinds of acne will depend on what causes the acne outbreaks.

Skin sensitivity can also contribute to outbreaks and blemishes which care associated with acne as well as the hormonal changes that may occur to individuals. These hormonal changes may be evident during puberty and before or during a woman's menstrual cycle. Acne can also manifest when the individual is stressed or eating too much fatty or greasy food. Stress can result to lack of sleep which can contribute to skin conditions resulting to blemishes. The
food that we eat can also be a big factor to acne because the oils from them will be added to the sebum that our skin produces. Bacteria are also part of the reason why the skin may be inflamed.

The best acne treatment can be hormonal pills or topical applications that will control the inflammation of the skin. The presence of the bacteria that is often the cause of recurring acne can also be eliminated by using topical antibiotics and other substances that can kill them. Practicing good hygiene is also another acne treatment that may work for those with not so severe cases of acne.

The best acne treatment is for mild to moderate cases of acne is usually the application of topical benzoyl peroxide combined with the ingestion or application of corresponding antibacterial solutions. For more severe cases, a combination of hormonal pills along with antibacterial which are prescribed by a doctor nay be necessary. All of these should be accompanied by the right hygiene procedure in cleaning the skin.

Effective acne treatment is a great tool for building self confidence and self esteem for the individual. The individuals who suffer from severe and recurring acne often suffer from being self conscious
about their condition and the blemishes that come with it. Early and preventive acne treatment can help to reduce the possibility of the individual being meek and shy.

Skin Condition Of Retinol Acne

Retinol acne is an extremely prevalent skin condition affecting many people globally but does not just affect the young. Whilst it is true that retinol acne will often become apparent during the formative years, many people do in fact find it a temporary condition although as many as nine in every ten people will suffer with at some point in their lives.

Retinol acne is the result of clogged hair follicles, caused by the overproduction of sebum, which is from the sebaceous glands but oil alone doesn't clog pores nor does oily skin necessarily equal retinol acne. The oil clogged inside the pore, not on the outside of the skin is what makes a pimple although retinol acne is more of a contemporary problem and not a condition people in the past generally had to worry about.

Clogged pores can also be caused by things like makeup, atmospheric pollution and the reason more young people seem to suffer with it, hormone adjustments but at least it is a treatable condition. Even out diet can play a part in the cause of retinol acne as much of our diet today is made up of unhealthy processed foods.

Sometimes when retinol acne is difficult to cure, a dermatologist will suggest a different type of medication which is more effective but may require more time to work. When medication is prescribed, normally the doctor involved will want to see the patient to ensure the retinol acne is clearing according to plan and decide whether to use more extreme methods.

During this time in particular it is important to ensure that fingernails are cleaned thoroughly and regularly as they harbor dirt, germs and bacteria that can aggravate the condition.

Germs and bacteria are not normally seen by the naked eye so just because the fingernails look clean does not actually mean they are. It is for this very reason that anyone who suffers with retinol acne should not touch their retinol acne with their bare hands.

The chances of perfect skin are virtually zero and you are more likely to suffer with retinol acne if your parents also had the condition. In the vast majority of retinol acne cases though, it is caused by the transition from a child to an adult and the changes that take place during this period.

If necessary, retinol acne sufferers should consult a dermatologist or qualified physician for retinol acne treatment. The information in this article is intended for informational purposes only and it should not be considered as, or used in place of, medical advice or professional recommendations for retinol acne diagnosis or treatment.

Acne Symptoms And Causes Explained

For a ridiculous number of years acne has been the terror of an enormous number of teenage lives, and, a topic avoided in conversation. People who are plagued with acne have been remorselessly teased and tormented, and horrifically christened with a name such as zit face. Only those who have sadly suffered from the disease can sympathize how immensely damaging such name calling can actually be. Over time interesting dicoveries have been made in the symptoms and causes of acne which have also led to more effective treatments.

An Introduction to Acne

Acne is the name of an inflammatory skin disease often found in teenagers. Acne reveals itself by the excess production of sebum by the sebaceous glands in the hair follicles which alarmingly become blocked. Acne can cause a malfunction in the follicles and pores in the skin on the chest, face and arms as well as the back. The blocked pores and follicles are medically termed comedo.

The comedone are those the plugs which block the pores which is made up of keratin and sebum. A comedo is referred to as being closed or open. An open comedo is what we commonly refer to as a 'blackhead', and the closed comedo is what most people call a 'whitehead'.

Once a comedone has formed it is usually followed by the most highly visible and unpleasant symptom of acne - spots. First the comedone becomes infected and with this comes inflammation and redness of the skin, which then leads to an outbreak of zits. The spots often become filled with pus and the skin surrounding the blemish looks incredibly red and is sore to the touch.

There are two types of bacteria responsible for the infectiona and inflammation in acne, these are called Staphylococcus epidermidis and Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis. As well as being responsible for the formation of pus filled pimples, acne abcesses and cysts can develop.

The Causes of Acne

Our Scientists have made great advances in the knowledge of the processes involved in the formation of, and the treatment of, acne. Upsetingly there has been few advances in the knowledge of the reasons for the development of acne. Today, it is widely accepted thata collection of factors, for example hormone levels, stress, and diet can all act as acne triggers.

There are scientists that are researching the fact that our genes may be a factor in acne also. Even if they do not manage to find the exact causes we can be certain that the increased understanding of the disease will help in the creation of new treatments.

Acne Myths Exploded

There is a lot of information distributed about acne and what causes it and that information is a mixture of both fact and fiction. So, let us look at a few of the things that are being said and see if we can sort out the fact from the myth.

Food

First of all there is no direct connection between eating such things as greasy hamburgers and chocolate or drinking too many soft drinks and getting acne spots. It is true however that diet plays an important role in all the body's systems and therefore it does have a minor part in whether acne is less or more likely.

For example, eating greasy foods does not directly convert into rising oil production from the sebaceous glands which contributes to acne, but foods that do contribute to an increase in oil production would have an effect. However, iodized salt is the only food substance that has been demonstrated to have any substantial effect and it simply exacerbates existing acne and does not cause it.

Hygiene

The odds of developing a pimple are increased when a pore becomes blocked and bacteria get trapped inside. This means that hygiene habits that tend to close the skin's pores can play a role. However this effect is only very small and the dead skin cells and bacteria which become trapped and cannot make their way out of the pore are influenced only to a small degree by an absence of regular face washing.

Nevertheless, once acne occurs then good skin hygiene is especially important and mild cleansing two times a day with soap and water can help to treat acne and encourage healthy skin in general. Cleanliness is an excellent for a number of reasons although it is most helpful in treating acne by providing a good surface for medications to work most effectively.

Spots are greatly influenced by excess skin oil (sebum) production that is triggered in the main by hormones and harsh cleansers applied roughly do not just clear away this excess oil but also damages the the ability of the skin to deal with it.

Stress

As stress tends to weaken the body's immune system and impact its hormone levels it could be thought that stress would play a role in the onset of acne. However, there is no evidence to suggest that stress leads to acne, although there is evidence to show that it might play a small role after acne has developed.

One difficulty in assessing the role of stress is that people who suffer from chronic stress normally also suffer from additional health problems that complicate the picture. Bear in mind too that we are talking here about clinical stress and not merely the worries which we all have as part of the ups and downs of everyday living.

Medication

A lot of people are tempted to raise the dosage of an over-the-counter medication believing that if a little medicine can do a little good then a lot of medication will do a lot of good. Unfortunately, this is not the case and it is both a waste of medication and could actually harm the skin. You should always stick to the instructions on any medication and if any medication is not showing signs of working within two or three weeks then it is a good idea to talk to your dermatologist.

It is also worth noting that there is no such thing as the best acne medicine. Each of us is different and a medication that proves to be the best acne medication for one individual will not necessarily work for someone else.

Acne Treatment - What Is Needed For Severe Cases?

Trying to find a good acne treatment if you have severe acne can be a difficult search. Treatments are usually very harsh on the skin, or even toxic to your health. However, if you leave the acne untreated, you could end up with scars from acne.

One of the oldest acne treatments for severe acne is Accutane, or its generic counterparts, which is a derivative of Vitamin A. Accutane is extremely effective for getting control of severe acne, and can sometimes virtually bring an end to acne breakouts. The downside of Accutane is it's toxicity, which results in a long list of unwanted side effects.

Fundamentally Accutane induces youe oil glands to cease to function while the treatment period is active, which basically can last 4 to 5 months. Because you are not secreting any oils, your skin becomes very dry, which many users report as feeling like a sunburn. People who use the drug Accutane complain that nosebleefs are very common side effect, in addition to hair loss. There is also a inclination to make the people who use it feel very depressed. Even though Accutane has the ability to get the problems associated with acne under control, the accompanying side effects make it an option that it should be only used in a frugal manner.

Another treatment that is also highly effective is that of antibiotics. There are a variety of antibiotics used, but, like Accutane, some forms have some undesirable side effects. One of the oldest forms of antibiotics, Minocycline also has a reputation as being one of the most toxic. Physicians continue to prescribe it because a persons body is slow to acquire immunity to it, ye doctors are ever increasungly utilizing additional more gentle, antibiotics in spite of the propensity for people who use it to build up an immunity.

A more direct treatment for severe acne is an intra-lesional corticosteroid injection, administered directly into cystic nodules. This injection is much like anti inflammatory cortisone shots that are used to help with knee and back problems. Using this direct injection causes the cyst to begin healing within a week. The only possible side effect of this acne treatment is temporary discoloration, but it can only be used to treat existing nodules.

In recent times laser have also become a sought after acne treatment. Not only can lasers treat acne, they can also remove acne scarring. Nevertheless, since these type of lasers are at present unregulated, anybody has the ability to buy and legally utilize these lasers. The risk is that a person who is an inexperienced practitioner might overexpose a person to the laser, resulting in damage that is permanent. Basically there are two kinds of lasers, non-ablative and ablative. Ablative lasers are one of the most antiquated as well as being one of the strongest, and they primarily evaporate the skins ourer most layer, very similar to removing a tattoo. At the time when this outer layer of a persons skin grows back, acne scars as well as wrinkles are to a great degree reduced.

The extreme heat produced by ablative lasers cause your oil glands to shrink, which prevents breakouts. Due to the fact that your skin is burned off, treatment through the use of ablative lasers will have the effect of reddening your face as well as making it soe for several weeks on average. Non-ablative lasers are more advanced as well as gentler on a person skin than the older lasers. A persons oil glands shrink with the use of non-ablative lasers, however because they don't vaporize your skin, typically there are no visible side effect or sorness. The growth of Collagen is induced through the use of non-ablative lasers, hence they additionally take away acne scarring. Because non-ablative lasers are less harsh, they will require more than one treatment session, while an ablative laser treatment consists of only one session.

Acne treatment methods have come a long way over the years. Modern technology offers several different ways to battle severe acne and sufferers enjoy a better quality of life. There are still many treatments, though, that require some consideration due to risks and side effects. Before you start on any acne treatment, it is best to talk to your dermatologist and have him tell you what the potential hazards of a treatment might be.

Can acne be more serious than simply a cosmetic issue?

Many people ask this question. Perhaps you are wondering if acne has ever gotten so bad for someone that it turned into something worse. The answer is "yes". Though acne is a larger health issue for only some people, it is still worth noting the development of the skin irritation into something more troublesome.

In some cases, acne leads to the scarring of the skin or the outbreak of a serious infection. This form of acne is known as cystic acne. Much like its name applies, cystic acne results in a large bump or cyst. Once a cyst heals, it may leave an obvious scar. It should be noted, however, that cystic acne is rare. If you believe that your acne is turning into something more serious than the usual skin irritation, consult a doctor.

How The Zeno Acne Clearing Device Works

The Zeno acne clearing device is the latest rage in acne treatment.  This Zeno acne clearing device is advertised to "outsmart pimples" and get rid of acne in 24 hours or less with only a few treatments from this hand-held device.  Many people have reported using Zeno with great results.

How Zeno Acne Clearing Device Works

The Zeno acne clearing device is a hand-held, battery-powered acne treatment unit you can use at home for clear skin.  Tyrell Inc., the makers of Zeno, claim that it is "clinically proven to make pimples disappear fast," and "the most scientifically advanced and effective acne device available without a prescription."

The Zeno acne system of acne removal is simple, as it delivers a heat shock to the root of the pimple. This "heat shock response" directly affects the bacteria that cause acne breakouts. In a matter of minutes, bacteria is destroyed, and the pimple begins the healing process.

A Zeno acne treatment is administered through a disposable tip on the Zeno unit.  The Zeno unit has a sensor that adjusts the level of heat based on your individual skin and circulation conditions, which are different depending on the type of pimple and where it is located.  The Zeno unit also varies the treatment time based on these conditions as well.  Because the technology used in Zeno is so sophisticated, Tyrell Inc. claims that most pimples will disappear within 24 hours or less with one to three treatments. Also since the Zeno unit adjusts to your skin and the specific pimple, the only possible side effect is slight redness in the treated area lasting for a few minutes.

Affordability

The Zeno acne clearing device is surprisingly affordable considering the technology used.  They offer a few different packages, starting at $150.  This package includes the Zeno acne clearing device, 60 treatment tips, and a wall charger.  The other packages, which peak at $200, add up to 150 tips and a leather case with a mirror for easy use when traveling or away from home.  The price of replacement tips is also very reasonable.  You can purchase 60 replacement tips for $25 or 150 for $55.

Does It Work For Everyone?

Tyrell Inc. advertises the Zeno acne treatment device to be effective for people with mild to moderate inflammatory acne, which means they do not claim it to be effective for treating cystic nodules.  However, many people with severe acne are likely to have pimples characteristic of mild to moderate acne in addition to cystic nodules.

While the Zeno acne unit may not be able to get rid of acne of every variety, it would seem that acne sufferers could potential benefit by using Zeno in combination with another treatment method to attain more clear skin.  However, not everyone sees noticeable results after trying Zeno.  Because of this, Tyrell Inc. provides a money-back guarantee so consumers can try the device risk free.

Different Types of Acne Products That You Can Buy

Mild to moderate acne can be controlled with a large variety of acne products, but few products can make you completely acne free. Benzoyl peroxide is one of the most common acne treatments and can be safely used by nearly anyone. Benzoyl peroxide works by killing the bacteria that causes acne while also drying your skin. Acne products that contain sulfur can also help people with mild to moderate acne. Sulfur is very effective because it unclogs the pores by removing dead cells while also promoting the healing process. Some sulfur products have anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredients to reduce redness and swelling while further preventing acne breakouts.

Some acne products use salicylic acid as an agent to exfoliate. Salicylic acid is known for its ability to keep the pores from becoming clogged and for preventing future outbreaks. The drawback to this agent is that it is very strong for skin treatment and shouldn't be used on the face or other sensitive parts of the body.

No matter how severe your acne breakouts become, there are acne products available that give you a good chance of being acne free. However, in addition to using effective acne products, you must practice good skin care to prevent reoccurrences or aggravating current breakouts.

Acne is a common skin problem for most adolescents and also afflicts some adults. People of all ages and backgrounds have had to deal with acne at some point. Hence, there has long been a desire to prevent it or cure it. We will look at some of the causes of acne as well as some of the ways in which people have followed treatment. Our hope is that you will gain a better understanding of why people get acne and what they can do for treatment and prevention.

What is acne?

For thousands of years, people have struggled with acne. Known in some cultures as a curse from the gods for immoral behavior, acne has largely been misunderstood. Only within the past century or so has the medical field been able to identify the true causes of acne. As one might expect, this has allowed those who suffer the blemishes to gain a certain sense of relief.

An inflammatory disease of the skin, acne is the result of severe changes in the skin's structure. Acne is thought to be the body's unusual response to a relatively normal production of testosterone, a male hormone. Rather than a sign that one's skin is not clean, acne is more closely associated with the hormonal and bacterial activity beneath the skin, which eventually leads to the irritation of the skin. The result is the red swelling we know as acne.

Acne Skin Care - Advice and Tips To Help You Deal With Your Problem

Although some people need to see a dermatologist to get clear fresh skin, many people can become virtually acne free with smart acne skin care.  There are many myths concerning acne skin care that cause even more breakouts for acne sufferers, but if you know the facts, you can prevent acne breakouts and get clear skin sooner after a breakout.

Despite longstanding rumors that chocolate, excessive exercise and a whole host of other things cause or worsen acne breakouts, the only real causes of acne are poor skin care, stress and hormones.  There is not much you can do to alter your hormone levels, but you can control your stress level, to a certain degree, and practice healthy acne skin care to prevent acne breakouts.

Any stress relief you can do, whether it is exercise, reading, or studying for that test ahead of time instead of cramming at the last minute, will help prevent acne eruptions.  While you cannot always be stress free, acne skin care is something you can always do that will help keep you as acne free as possible.

Acne skin care should gently clean your skin and avoid irritating it.  Acne breakouts, especially pimples, are essentially skin irritations.  You want to make sure that you do not make breakouts any worse with improper skin care.  The first and most basic thing you should do is wash you face, or other affected area, at least once a day.  If you have oily skin, you may want to wash twice a day.  Simply use soap and water, and do not scrub your face, as this will only further irritate your skin.  Try to be as gentle as possible when drying your face as well.  Washing your face helps remove excess oil, which prevents the pores from getting clogged and forming pimples.  Also, if you wear makeup, you should use water based, not oil based makeup, so that your pores can breathe.

Popping or squeezing pimples can actually make breakouts worse if done prematurely.  If you attempt to pop a pimple before it is ready, you are more likely to bruise your skin, which will leave a long-lasting red spot.  The pimple also has the ability to pop when it is underneath your skin and spread from there.  This can cause an even worse pimple, known as a cystic nodule, which forms a hard, painful lump.  Cystic nodules, like bruising your skin, can be very noticeable and can take a long time to go away.  For this reason, popping pimples when they appear should not be your first acne skin care option.

Acne breakouts can be worsened by sunburns, which is damaging to your skin. Using a water-based sunblock helps protect from burns while keeping pores clog-free. You will never be able to eliminate breakouts, but with smart choices and a little extra attention to proper acne skin care habits, you can reduce the chances of future outbreaks.

Acne Treatments - Which Ones Have The Greatest Degree Of Effectiveness?

There are many different acne treatments available, but the effectiveness of any acne product varies from person to person. There are many reasons why certain acne treatments work better for some people than others. Everyone has a unique body chemistry and complexion, as well as type and severity of acne, and all of those factors play a role in how stubborn acne can be.

To get to be as well as remaining free of acne, particularly in the years of being a teen, the right kind of skin care habits are an unequivocal requirement. One of the more significant facts is to maintain very clean skin in order to not clog your pores or have your pimples infected. Essentially pimples are a kind of irritation of the skin, so even if you don't with to clean you face with soap and water one or two times per day, you essentially have to be careful not to over do it. If a person washes his face to freqently it can dry out their skin or damage it with too much scrubbing. Blackheads are not pores clogged with dirt, but instead are open pores that have become infected. No degree of washing will get rid of a blackhead, so there is not a need to scrub at them exceedingly. Your acne can improve with a reasonable degree of sunlight, however you can damage your skin if you get a sunburn, similar to overwashing. Using a water based sunscreen will help protect your skin. Likewise, if you wear makeup, make sure it is water based and not oil based, as oil based makeup is much more likely to clog your pores and cause break outs.

Beyond keeping your skin clean, over the counter acne treatments are sufficient for most cases of acne. Some of the most popular over the counter acne products contain benzoyl peroxide. This acne product helps to dry your skin while also cleansing it. Sulfur is another acne product that can help many people become acne free. Sulfur helps to unclog pores and promotes healing; it can also be combined with other ingredients to help speed the healing process.

For cases that are severe in nature, acne treatments might have to incorporate presription strength medication or treatments carried out by a dermatologist to result in being acne free. Many of the prescription medication used to treat acne is very harsh and can be painful, in addition to having other side effects. If a dermatologist does prescribe a medication, you should discuss the potential side effects, as they are quite serious in some cases. Numerous dermatologists have ended up going to a therapy known as dermabrasion, which gets rid of skin cells which have died, and possibly scar tissue, to assist in the unclogging of pores as well as giving you a clearer complexion. Dermatologists also use light therapy to combat acne-causing bacteria underneath the skin, as well as laser therapy.

If this were a perfect world, there would be the miracle treatment for acne or better yet, there would be no severe acne sufferers at all. While a cure isn't available yet, there are enough acne treatments and products on the market, ranging from over-the-counter products formulated to help mild to moderate cases to prescription treatments meant for the most severe cases. You may have to try several different treatments before you find the one that works best for you, but no matter what, don't give up.

Learning The Fundamental Principles Of Acne Control

Acne control for some is easy, while others with severe cases of acne struggle on a daily basis to keep outbreaks under control. Still others fall somewhere in between the two groups of extremes, suffering only from the occasional outbreak. No matter which category you fall into, acne is not pleasant and finding the one way to treat acne that works can be a difficult and frustrating process.

The essential methods of acne control are to keep pores from getting clogged, unclog infected pores, attack the bacteria causing the infection, or reduce the redness associated with acne.  There are many preventative measures you can take to reduce the chance of having an acne breakout in the first place.  Gently washing your face with soap and water once or twice a day will help prevent your pores from being clogged.  Beyond this, benzoyl peroxide, which is the active ingredient in Oxy pads and many other cleaning wipes, helps to further clean your skin as well as dry it out.  One of the biggest advantages of using benzoyl peroxide is that it can be used in combination with other products to treat acne.

Exfoliating is another very popular method of acne control.  Exfoliating removes the dead skin cells from the surface of your skin.  These dead cells can cause acne breakouts by clogging extremely active oil glands, especially those on your face.  Exfoliating can also make you skin much smoother, softer, and healthy.  However, some exfoliating agents can be very harsh, so a new exfoliating product should first be tested on a small area for reactions before using on your entire face.

Some products for acne control have a dual purpose. Exfoliates not only remove the dead skin cells from the surface, they also offer the benefits of antibacterial and anti-inflammatory products. Both of these ingredients can help to treat the existing acne and reduce the redness and swelling that often accompanies a breakout. Other common ingredients are sulfur and Azelaic acid. One ingredient to be cautious of using on the face is salicylic acid. While this ingredient can help to prevent the pores from clogging, it is too irritating to facial skin.

Some people with severe acne may need to consult a dermatologist for help with their acne control.  A dermatologist may suggest a cleansing regime, use lights or lasers to treat and prevent breakouts, or prescribe medication.  If you are prescribed medication, you should be wary of the side effects, as most acne medication is very harsh, even toxic.  Some of these numerous side effects are somewhat discomforting, but others are very permanent.  A few acne prescriptions have even been linked with depression, sometimes resulting in suicide.

Dermatologists may feel like a last resort for acne control, and the prescription medications do have their drawbacks. If you feel that you're not ready to take that step, over-the-counter treatments for acne care, such as products containing benzoyl peroxide or Azelaic acid, might help you best. Should those solutions not be of help, visit a dermatologist before scarring occurs.

Types Of Acne Care That You Can Live With

Acne can strike at any age and many people go to great lengths to ensure proper acne care. Despite any number of best efforts, some people find no relief, no miracle cure that will eliminate acne forever, and these individuals have the acne scars to prove it. Acne is more than a physical affliction; it can eat away at a person's self-esteem and change the way that others react to him or her.

While acne care for people with mild to moderate acne is not usually a terrible enigma, people with cystic acne, considered the worst type of acne, can be very difficult.  For individuals that consistently develop cystic acne lesions or have lesions that will not go away, the majority of over-the-counter acne medications have little effect.  In this event, the help of a dermatologist is usually needed.

Depending on the severity of your acne, your complexion and how oily your skin is, a dermatologist has a wide variety of acne care options to control cystic acne or even remove acne scars.  Oral medications are the oldest type of treatment for severe acne, but many of these medications are very harsh and have some very undesirable side effects.  If a dermatologist does suggest an oral acne medication, you should inquire to the side effects and possible alternatives.

Lasers are becoming a more common solution for severe acne care.  Lasers can even be used to remove acne scars, if used properly.  However, an inexperienced laser operator can cause permanent scarring.

There are two types of lasers used to treat acne, called ablative and nonablative lasers.  Ablative lasers are the oldest type and the most potentially dangerous.  Both types of lasers shrink the oil glands, which slows oil production and prevents acne breakouts, but ablative lasers destroy the outermost layer of your skin.  This causes the area treated by ablative lasers to be very red, sensitive and painful until the skin fully heals.  Because the scar tissue is destroyed, the skin that grows back will lack acne scars or wrinkles.

Nonablative lasers, on the other hand, do not harm the outer layer of skin, but get rid of acne scars by stimulating collegen growth.  However, nonablative lasers, because they are gentler, require multiple treatments, while ablative lasers only require a single treatment.

One over-the-counter acne care product that can help reduce acne scarring and wrinkles is Azelaic acid.  It is commonly found in the form of a lotion that increases skin moisture.  Although it does not work for everyone, many people do report a reduction in acne scars if they use Azelaic acid.

Proper acne care can be costly and heartbreaking when you find out it doesn't work. Rather than spend your time with one miracle remedy after another, it might be best to seek out the advice and guidance of a professional dermatologist to deal with cystic acne quickly before scarring occurs.

How important is a healthy diet to preventing acne?

It is no coincidence that people who eat healthy food tend to have skin that shines and glows. In contrast, think of someone you know who eats nothing but junk food. It is likely that they have some issues with acne. Experts agree that a good, healthy diet can go a long way towards either preventing acne or helping diminish it. The Chinese believe, and have been widely accepted in their belief, that acne is solely attributed to a poor diet. They claim that too much sugar or grease leads to the potential for acne. Thus, they discourage the consumption of excessive amounts of chocolate and fried foods. Fruits and vegetables are generally considered better for the skin and a deterrent to acne. Another factor known to eliminate acne is continual drinking of water. Drinking plenty of it is your best bet to avoid acne.

What else can help prevent or treat acne?

People have tried nearly everything to reduce the effects of acne. Some methods have had more success than others. Because acne is the result of chemical reactions within the body, it is widely believed that keeping consistent levels of hormonal activity is a good way to avoid acne. Avoiding stress or extreme levels of sexual activity has been known to lessen the effects of acne, if not prevent it altogether.

Once acne occurs, exfoliation of the skin can reduce its effects. Several over-the-counter medications exist, but their value is continually in question. As with all medications, a doctor should always be consulted before trying something new to rid yourself of acne. Short bursts of cortisone sometimes help reduce the swelling that comes from acne, but they do nothing for the bacteria gathering beneath the surface of the skin. To date, there is no miracle cure for acne, but trying different combinations of solutions may help ease the problem.

Places To Find Free Acne Advice To Help Your Acne Problem

Free acne advice is easy to come by, but you should not believe everything you hear or read about an acne product.  No matter what any website or product says, nearly everyone has an occasional acne breakout, even people in their 30's and 40's.  Much of this "free acne advice" is simply a tool to sell you something, so you should take everything with a grain of salt.

Almost nothing is free, but there is one free acne treatment available.  This is not an acne cure, but it helps to reduce acne, as well as help make your skin much healthier, if used in moderation.  This acne treatment is natural sunlight, which stimulates your skin and helps your body produce vitamin D.  In addition to regulating calcium and phosphorous levels in the blood stream, vitamin D is also believed to strengthen the immune system and regulate cell growth, both of which are crucial for helping your body fight and resist acne naturally.

Although some people have deficiencies that require vitamin D supplements, most people can get enough vitamin D from sunlight and their diet.  However, groups of people who may not get enough sun exposure include people who are homebound, have an occupation that keeps them indoors, people living close to the poles, women required to wear robes and head coverings, or people who simply spend too much time watching TV or at a computer.  These activities or lifestyles can increase the severity and intensity of your acne.

Many myths surround acne, and one of the most common myths of free acne advice tips warn against exercise or sweat. Research shows that excess exercise will neither cure nor cause acne outbreaks. The link points to types of clothing and athletic equipment that are more likely to cause acne breakouts. Physical activity won't.

For example, it is not abnormal for shoulder pads worn by football players to cause acne breakouts where the pads meet the skin.  This happens for several reasons.  The pads compress the skin in that area, which traps sweat and prevents the skin from breathing like it normally would.  This leads to the pores in that area becoming clogged, which results in acne breakouts.  Although it is not a free acne solution, many athletes can reduce acne breakouts by removing pads and other equipment as soon as possible, washing that area (shoulders, etc.) with soap and water, and wiping their pads down with antibacterial soap or wipes.  Although this does not completely cure this type of acne, it can help reduce it.

Free acne advice is plentiful on the internet, and not everything you read will work for you, if it works at all. In order for an acne treatment to be effective, it has to clear the pores and eliminate harmful bacteria. There may not be one definitive acne cure on the market, but the best free acne advice that will help is learning how to properly clean your skin and to get plenty of vitamin D from natural sunlight.

What are The Best Acne Medications

You may have noticed that acne is becoming a huge problem in our current society, it is everywhere, and millions of people are affected by this condition. Statistics reports that the vast majority of people will suffer at one time in their life from this condition. The vast majority of cases are not severe cases of acne and disappears within a couple of months but for certain individuals the acne condition persist and can often cause some serious damages to the affected area.

Anyone suffering the more extreme forms of acne should immediately seek to cure themselves by looking for the right kind of acne medication. The best way to choose from amongst the range of acne medications available is to consult a skin specialist on the various prescription medications available for acne. Each prescription to get rid of acne is designed to meet the particular need of that patient.

Acne: The Choices for Topical Medication

Amongst all the available acne medication on the market, many believe that topical prescriptions are the most effective to get rid of acne problems. In the majority of cases a simple application directly on the affected area can have a significant healing impact. This type of cure can greatly help people suffering from mild to extreme acne problems. Many studies have proven that the skin can start to heal within a couple of days of using this treatment.

These topically applied medications are also known for ther other uses and benefits. They are mostly effective at nourishing and moisturizing the skin helping to stop the signs of premature aging. Constant exposure to the sun for instance causes premature wrinkles and acne treatments that contain retinoids will not only help cure acne, but also cause a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles.

Oral Antibiotics and Acne

Of course topical acne treatments are not effective for everyone, in some cases where the acne is severe, the skin might not respond to certain topical medication after a certain point. In these cases there are other options available to help destroy the bacteria that are responsible for acne like antibiotics. Antibiotics should never be self-prescribed. You should always seek you doctor's advice before taking any antibiotics treatment as they can have some side effects.

These possibly violent side effects could even cause permanent damage to the body if taken recklessly. If one finds that the acne medications that have been prescribed are not working as they should, one should return to the dermatologist. Acne is a common problem for teenagers, and most parents of those teens probably dealt with it themselves, to some degree. In most cases, the acne disappeared once the teenage years were past but this is little comfort to most teens in the midst of it now. As a parent, you need to provide moral support but also some good hard facts.

It's always a good idea to talk to a health care professional for advice. For one thing, a dermatologist can tell you for sure whether those spots are in fact acne. There are other skin conditions that look similar, but need to be treated differently.

Teenagers are usually embarrassed by their acne, so it might be a touchy subject to talk about. You'll know your teen best but it's important to be supportive and understanding. Never accuse them of bad habits that led to acne - the old myths about acne being caused by chocolate and greasy foods have been proven to be false.

Sure-fire Home Remedies for Acne

Acne!  It definitely doesn’t pose a serious threat to your life or health, but acne occurring on typical areas like the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders can be great source of agony and emotional distress.

Acne is like the other growing up woes: they normally disappear as soon as those crazy adolescent days are over.

But there are people who are not that lucky: they may be bothered by acne well through their 20’s, 30’s and even beyond.

When acne becomes a nagging irritant like this and disrupts the normal rhythm of life, you must stop experimenting with commercial products and zero in on a package of home remedies.

Five acne home remedies:

1. The first step to acne treatment is cleansing: if you want to keep your face free of acne, you should follow a cleansing regimen everyday. The best cleanser is always made at home. Here is how: add few drops of lemon juice to a small bowl full of milk. Don’t boil the milk; use it as it comes fresh from packet. Soak a cotton wool into the liquid; drab it through your skin; wait for ten minutes or as long as it takes to dry; rinse the face thoroughly.

This home remedy has a very effective deep cleansing effect. Following this everyday will help prevent the clogging of skin pores---the main culprit for causing acne.

2. The next step involves exfoliation for removing the dead skin cells from your skin that leads to the growth of acne causing bacteria on your face. A great home made exfoliating scrub can be prepared with gram flour, oats, a few drops of lemon and a pinch of cocoa powder. Add some warm water to this mixture to bring it to semi liquid state and then apply it all over your face. Wait for ten minutes before rinsing.

3. Next you have to tone the face skin with some home made skin tonic. For acne prone skin, rose water makes the best toner. Another option is a combination of cucumber and lemon juice. For your convenience, you can preserve this concoction as ice cubes---before stepping out; just rub this ice cube over your face to get an instant brightness.

4. The acne skin care regimen should also involve the nourishment of your skin. For that you have to go for a suitable face pack twice a month. The clove based masks work well for acne prone skins. The lentil based face packs are also good for acne skin care. To prepare this you will need lentil powder (50g), orange peels ground with little water (of one medium size orange) and rose- water. Apply this mixture for about an hour and then scrap it off from the face carefully before rinsing off the face.

5. Sometimes you may need localized treatment for one or two eruptions that suddenly occur on your otherwise clear skin. The immediate address of the problem becomes absolute necessary when you have an important appointment for next day and have discovered the possibility of rashes just before going to bed. At this stage you need an overnight treatment; the magic can be done with the paste of fenugreek leaves and sandal wood powder. Mix these two ingredients together and locally apply them over the acne. This will give you a face clear enough to appear for the appointment with confidence.

The effective acne skin care regimen is nothing but blocking the signs of danger before they finally find out the rout to your skin. The above mentioned home remedies are sure to succeed because they take proper care of your skin while controlling the attack of acne.

You should consider these steps on your first dermatology appoinment. During this visit the doctor will need to give you a physical assessment that should include a history of your health.

The doctor may start you on a cleansing program depending on the type, severity and frequency of your out breaks that will include either topical soaps, creams or lotions. If your acne case is mild, your doctor could prescribe an oral medication that could be beneficial.

Your doctor may recommend certain antibiotics such as Tetracycline or Erythromycin in which the treatments will improve your acne condition in 3 o 6 months. If the results are not favorable then the doctor could possibly start you on Accutane treatment.

Should your doctor recommend Accutrane, get the full explanation on the potential of certain affects this treatment might have on you. There has been in past reports of isolated cases in birth defects and suicide attempts. Many dermatologists will not recommend this treatment for women of child bearing age or someone with a history of depression.

How To Treat Acne

Many teenagers suffer from acne. While some may not get adult acne, not all are so lucky. If adults still suffer from acne, they may feel self-conscious. It can be quite distressing to live with acne. For ladies who put make-up to cover up their acne, it may actually make the situation worse. Several reasons for adult acne include stress and hormonal problems. Sometimes, medications to resolve these problems may worsen the situation.

What exactly causes acne?
It occurs when the hair follicle or the pore is clogged. When you exfoliate your skin, some parts of your skin cells remain on the skin and this results in a blockage. The skin cells obstruct the pores and it traps the sebum. As a result, bacteria will build up and inflammation of the skin occurs.

How can we solve the problem?
Some people try all sorts of weird methods. Some put toothpaste. Scars occur when people scratch and pick the pimples. There are many unorthodox treatments that may cause greater problems.

A lot of products found in the market help to reduce acne in adolescents and adults.Retinoids that come from Vitamin A is the most common treatment. Many products that are found over the counter can be used as well. Retin-A is highly demanded in acne prescription medication.

How do the medications work?
Exfoliated cells that are trapped will be removed. If you exfoliate your skin more frequently, then sebum will not be able to be built up, and bacteria will not have the opportunity to remain there. You can get cleansing products that help you to unclog the blocked pores as it reaches the sebaceous matter. You need to find a suitable cleansing product for your type of skin. Results may not appear overnight, but if you use these cleansers on a regular basis, you should be able to get clearer skin where you are free from blemishes.

Finding Herbal Treatments For Acne

Normal 0 false false false

Probably the biggest benefit of using alternate herbal treatments for acne is the fact that the herbs are a perennial plant that just does not seem to go away or lose its potency. This alternative method of treatment enjoys an enviable reputation worldwide and it has been used effectively for treating patients that have not responded to other more regular forms of treatment. It is also noted for treating adults.

If you have not paid enough attention to eating a healthy diet in order to build skin that is healthy, you should look to herbal treatment for acne as a means to remedy your problems with your skin. No doubt, not taking the proper diet will not really affect the quality of your skin, but a proper diet will ensure that your skin tone is on the up and the skin remains healthy, especially when compared to eating of foods rich in fats.

How to Restore Your Hormonal Balance

Another benefit derived by opting for herbal treatment for acne is that you will gain in a number of other ways including having the balance of your hormones restored, and of course having a rejuvenated skin. If you suffer from a persistent imbalance in hormones, especially in the male species, your skin would be more prone to having an outbreak of acne, this is where herbal treatment for acne comes into play.

It is a historical fact that herbal treatment for acne will greatly reduce acne from developing. Fortunately there are a number of different herbal types that will do the trick for you. These alternate treatments include the following:

1. One of the better known herbal treatments for acne is Aloe Vera which is easily available and is also widely used. Its potency lays in the fact that it contains astringent as well as anti-bacterial properties that are very effective when applied directly to the skin.

2. Or, you may opt for Calendula which may be used as a facial steam that is sure to provide healing, you can use it as a cream which is also possible as it is readily available as a cream in any local pharmacy.

3. Lavender is another herbal treatment for acne that can provide relief from inflammations.

4. Another option available to you is Golden Seal which will stop oozing as it contains excellent anti-microbial properties.

5. Yet another option open to you would be to use Tea Tree Oil that is anti-septic, however it should be diluted prior to use.

6. You may also be pleasantly surprised to know of yet another herbal treatment for acne which is Walnut lead. This is a good astringent that can be used to wash your face where it will start to contract the pores and prevent further acne build-up.

Another method with some of the herbal treatments for acne, rather than apply them on the skin, can be consumed, a good example of this is mixing dandelion with milk thistle that will not only clean the blood, but also clean out the liver and cure your acne.

With herbal treatment for acne, you are assured of a better natural means to treat your acne rather than the chemical based products so widely touted as being the ultimate treatment method for acne problems.

Burdock Root, A Natural Acne Treatment: Part 1

I see already that this going to need two parts or more to write about. It has taken me some time now to consider writing this but I must. I discovered a few years ago that while taking the burdock root for my colon, I began to experience fewer outbreaks of acne. Let me explain.

I never read anything about anyone using burdock root to treat acne. In fact when it was suggested to me the only thing I remember reading about it was its origin, no recollection about the acne.

I knew what I had experienced, and thought to write on it but did a search first, and actually found two article sites, very little otherwise. They were mainly selling sites. I was the only science project on this that I knew about. Surely there are more.

So, anyway a few years ago I started using burdock root, in capsule form, 540mg/capsule, to help with my colon, per recommendation of my nutritionist and physical therapist, because of some serious digestive issues back in 2001-2004. It is a natural cleanser, a diuretic, so you can imagine why I was on it. It had to be necessary, because I am no pill taker.

In the process of using it I began noticing my acne condition was dimininshing. It was several weeks before it clicked, though. I was on this stuff for my stomach and colon, had no idea of all the other benefits associated with the burdock root. The only logical thing here is to restate what those benefits are, especially in regards to using burdock root to treat the acne condition.

Burdock Root History

When I was a kid I used to play near an old colonial graveyard where these types of plants, in the family of genus Arctium, grew. I used to get them in my hair and clothes, no fun. Never thought I would be drinking burdock root tea or taking it as a capsule, pretty weird.

Burdock root is used in food and beverages, and as a medicine. Most popular as a cuisine in Asia, the roots are mingled with other vegetables and sauces and happily eaten.

Burdock root has been known to be used for many centuries as a purifier to the bloodstream, cleaning out the toxins. It is leaned on as a diuretic as well. Tis true, again I am an experiment to this, it does do this. A natural purifier of the liver and kidneys also.

Burdock root has been used also as a skin remedy for acne, and rosacea. Its oil has been used in years past in treatment of the scalp, promoting healthy growth of hair and also supplying healthy aid to the sebaceous glands. This is where we come in as those suffering with the acne disease.

See Part 2 as this is getting lengthy.

You may have tried many various products available in the market, such as lotion, medication and anti-acne cream. It may not be successful for everyone. If you had been left with horrible scars from your acne, you can consider acne laser treatment.

The rising popularity of acne laser treatment to treat scars left by acne has raised awareness among people. This is a fairly new procedure that has shown some promising results for those who have had no luck with other types of treatment. Maybe it's time for you to take a look at acne laser treatment.

Do you know anything about acne laser treatment?

This is a process that will resolve your current acne woes and at the same time remove the scars left by acne. Depending on the condition of your skin, there are a few different possible treatments. Your dermatologist can advise you as to the best treatment options for you.

There are usually three types of acne laser treatments. They are carbon dioxide lasers, non-ablative lasers, and erbium lasers. The carbon dioxide type is probably the most popular and effective type of laser treatment. Basically, this involves peeling away the infected and blemished skin by using short pulses of light. Non-ablative and erbium lasers work a bit differently. They remove the blemishes and heal the scars under the skin.

Benefits

It doesn't take much time and pain for the entire procedure. The surgery will not take more than a few minutes and you can be discharged immediately. Recovery time from this treatment is almost non-existent. In fact, many people will schedule treatments during their lunch breaks. The most important benefit of acne laser treatment is that the skin will finally be virtually free from blemishes and scars.

Drawbacks

There are certain drawbacks to this particular treatment for acne. Although one treatment may take only a short while, usually you will be required to have more treatments up to a few months. After the completion of your treatments, it may take some time to see the benefits once your skin has completely recovered.

Some people may be discouraged by the exorbitant cost of acne laser treatment. Many sessions, each costing a few hundred dollars, are required before visible results are noticed. As this is considered cosmetic surgery, it will not be covered by health insurance policies. This can definitely add up over a few months.

Do discuss the best course of treatment for your acne scars with your dermatologist as he or she will be in a position to recommend whether you should go ahead with acne laser treatment.

Can People Get By With Simple Acne Treatments?

A lot of people think of acne as just one of those annoying things that everyone has to go to in adolescence, but for some people it is much worse. Acne treatments are usually simply a convenience – something to make pimply teens feel better about the way they look – but if you have severe scarring acne, they are a necessity. Bad acne is not always something that will go away on its own. If it is bad enough, it can leave scars on the face that can last for the rest of your life.

That doesn't mean that every acne treatment has to be drastic. A lot of people get by with pretty simple acne treatments using little more than soap, water, and common sense. When my best friend in high school came down with a bad acne breakout, his mom put him on a strict diet. He ate a lot of fruits and vegetables, cut out all processed foods, and gave up beef and fatty meats. In addition, he got an acne cleanser – basically rubbing alcohol with a little mojo – and took to washing his face three or four times a day. His face cleared up within a week, all without the use of any drastic acne treatments.

My case was different. I got little benefit from facial cleansers and soaps. Although eating badly made my acne worse, eating well did not make it much better. My mom was getting worried that I would get scars, so she took me to the dermatologist.

The doctor was glad that I had come in. apparently, acne scar treatment is a whole lot more difficult than treating the acne itself before it gets to that point. He provided a facial cream called Retin-A, and told me to come back if the problem did not go away. At first, I was skeptical that things would get any better. After four days of using his prescribed acne treatments, things had barely improved. I decided to be patient, however, and gave it another week. Slowly but surely, my face started to look better and better.

The cream did not work by itself, but with the aid of careful eating habits and frequent facial cleansing, it did the job. Soon, I was almost entirely pimple free. I still had to watch out for occasional breakouts, but after going to the doctor, it was never that bad anymore.
